WHEELCHAIRS, BIKES & BALLS: HOW TO STORE PERSONAL ITEMS IN PUBLIC USE

In modern new residential complexes, developers provide special areas for convenient storage of residents' belongings - strollers, bicycle parking and other spaces.

But, despite specially designated areas, storage of personal belongings in public places that are not specifically intended for this is still not uncommon. Someone uses the common space, someone is categorically against it.

Stairs and landings in apartment buildings are the common property of the residents of the building. The law stipulates that each owner of the living space has his own part - in direct proportion to the area of the apartment.

The use of "own" part is possible with the consent of other owners, this norm has been established, but provided there is no violation of fire, sanitary, environmental and technical standards.

If we consider the issue in more detail, then the following things are allowed for storage in the common area:

  • Things that do not interfere with the passage and exit;
  • Things that can't catch fire and basically burn;
  • Things that don't smell, don't deteriorate, or attract insects and rodents;

The most optimal option is to obtain a written permission from the tenants. Moreover, if things block the escape routes, create a fire threat, representatives of the management company can take them out even without the consent of the owner.

With good design, functionality is always paramount, regardless of form, but it should not excite emotions
